Plug wire diagram

Well I got new Ford Racing 9mm plug wires and new MSD cap and rotor today put them on and it starts but the whole truck shakes and when I hit the gas it barley revs up. Im thinking the plug wires are on wrong.

Anyone have a plug wire diagram for my truck?

Also when I put the new MSD cap on it didn't line up like the old one. The little black plug on the new cap are in different spots.

In the picture I have both caps lined up and you can see the black plug is in different spots.

Here is the diagram I used

Here is how I have it wired

Isnt the firing order 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8??

I noticed in your pics, the text Has the firing order 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 ( for a '94 & up 5.0)

I have a 90 5.0 that I have put a carb on and vacuum advance disrtibutor. I wired mine
1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8, However , I just installed this motor and don't have it fired up yet.
I can't say for sure , cause I can't see which plug, the wires lead to, but it looks wrong to me.

1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 is the 351w firing order. High output 302's in mustangs also used this firing order. Are these instructions for 90-up trucks? I don't know if they changed to the 351w firing order or not.

When you put in aftermarket cams, you have to watch out for this. The cam could have either firing order, so you might have to switch the wires around sometimes.

1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 is the old 302 firing order, and was also the firing order for "normal" non-HO engines in the later models. If you notice, #7 and #8 are right next to each other in the order, and also right next to each other physically on the engine(driver's side rear). They have problems with the spark jumping between these two wires, especially when you make them pretty and line them up side by side all the way to the cylinder head. The best thing to do is run them totally opposite in the sparkplug looms.

Yep I didn't know they changed the firing order on the 302s either.
