Internet access Upstate
What are all of you using to get to FTE? Dialup? DSL? Cable?
What speeds?
I've been pondering buying property/house upstate, (lower half) and during the summer when the wife and I go to her brother's land, whenever she sees a nice place, she's always saying "if you buy me that house, I'll move here". So I might take her up on it someday ...
However, I need fast internet access for my business. I want a place away from the main-drag, but not so far away I can't get cable-speed access.
What options are you all seeing out there where you are?

Art - it all depends. I have cable, but my parents that live less then 5 miles away from me only had dial-up until last year when they were finally able to get DSL. I looked into every option for them including satellite and there was nothing available for them until one vendor finally provided DSL in their area.

I'm paying $45/month for cable Internet, and that's with a TV package and phone. It would be even higher.
That's for 15 down, 2 up. I pay an extra $10/month (only $10 w/phone service, I think it's $15 or $20) for 30 down, 5 up. That's 30Mbps download, 5Mbps upload.
Verizon has run fiber right past my house, and I can get 20 down, 20 up, with a phone line with unlimited national calling (like cable) all for less than $70. They are adding TV soon, I'll probably jump.
Maybe I'll stay where I am

I'm in Akron, running Time Warner Rochesters cable/internet/phone.
Bill is about $180 for everything.
Its fast enough for me.
