No 58hp is not a great gain but for a gasser with only headers and exhaust thats not bad at all. Remember the poer numbers banks quote are not Peak power numbers. I just have the Thorley headers/ypipe, highflow cat, cat-back exhaust intake and tuner with an 87 tune on it. Power gains are not huge like on diesels but it can be felt especially in the low end department.

Is it worth the $$$? To me it was but to others it may not be. I like my set-up. Even with the Banks kit you could still benefit from some custom tuning, especially if your willing to run premium gas.

Someone up in the excursion forum put one on his ex v-10 before he sold it and said he didnt feel any gains. I think its not worth it.

I have the full powerpack minus the chip. It is worth it if you tow. It gives a decent low end grunt improvement. It really ehlp in the upper rpm's. Avobe 3K it roars.

Would I do it again. NO. Not enough daily driving improvement to justify the $1500 (4 years ago) cost. Plus it is not picnic to do the removal and install of the new set up.

If you do decide to get it, remember the heavy thick cast iron manifolds and way different than thin stainless steel. Prepare to hear the exhause pulses though them. Also, the sound will change dramatically. Better or worse is to your taste. I felt the straight though design of the banks muffler was too funky for me. I swapped it out to a Flowmaster 70 series muffler with three chambers.

The Thorley headers comes with a Y-pipe. They replace everything from the block back to the triangular flange before the cat. $950 shipped for the Thorley headers, $125 to replace the stock muffler, $400 for an SCT Xcal 3 with custom tunes and mod the intake if you please.

I think the Banks powerpack minus the ottomind is $2300 for parts only.

Another headers alternative is the Hedman headers and Y-pipe which are quite a bit cheaper than the Thorleys. I havn't heard anything on the Hedmans though. Someone here bought Hedmans for his V10 a few months ago but I havn't heard an update.

Why don't you swap your gears to 4.88s or 5.13s? That would probably be more beneficial. While your at it swap in a locker. No point in having 40 inch tires if they aren't getting any power or traction.
