Toyota rusty Frame buy back

Toyota claims that a "Small Percentage" of Tacomas from '95-2000 have problems with rusting/breaking frames that make them unsafe. Our 'Yota store has taken approximately 70 off the road this past week alone!!! Better than 75% of the ones we have looked at have been bad. Our instructions are to immediately take the customers out of the cars if we detect bad frames. The customer is not allowed to drive it unless they are willing to sign a very detailed disclaimer. This is a can of worms that is just being opened..."OH what a feeling"!!!

It's interesting that...so far...I haven't seen anything in the mainstream media about this. The mainstream media is very quick to jump all over Ford when there is a recall...even if it's a massive recall because of a small number of problems. The Japanese manufacturers...for years...have fought the consumer tooth and nail to avoid recalling vehicles that they knew had problems. The burden of proof has been on the end user to try and figure a way to force the manufacturer to make right a wrong. I've seen this time after time with our sister store...a 'Yota point. Toyota knew...or should have known...for a very long time...that they were putting out trucks with bad frames. It took them between 8 and 13 years to admit that there was a problem and make reparations to their customers. How many people suffered financial losses when rust problems were discovered before the non recall recall letters went out...and were forced to sell their vehicles for far less than they should have been worth??? Currently there is no plan in place to address the losses suffered by these folks. OHHHHH what a feeling indeed!!!
