I have a 89 f250 4x4 351W FI C6 Auto, recently I was having problems with the trans it was reving up real high before it went into 2nd. I dropped the pan and the valve body to make sure their were no shavings or any other debris. Everything ok. So I replaced the valve modulator and the line that goes to the intake, replaced the MLPS and adjusted the intermediate band. I put it all back together and NOW it won't even go in gear. Did I hook up the valve body wrong? If so what is the proper way of doing it? Any help would be great;

I only unbolted the valve body from the trans I didn't take it apart. I was also wondering whats up with the color strips on the modulator I have purple right now was i suppose to have different color? Could the pin for the modulator not be in place? i added 3 quarts is that to much or not enough?please any help would be great

 

If you only added 3 quarts of transmission fluid after you dropped the transmission oil pan and took off the valve body there is a good chance that you dont have enough fluid in the transmission. My 97 has the E4OD and it takes around 7 quarts to refill after dropping the pan and changing the filter. Also make sure your manual control valve on the valve body, is engaged to the linkage that goes to the transmission range selector.

 

You may have not indexed the manual valve properly.
There is a slot in the manual valve that must connect to the lever.

 

thanks for the replys, It was the fluid!! it needed 4 more quarts, I'm glad it was that simple and I didn't have to drop the pan again. Another issue is when I was test driving it at a stop sign I would have to give it a little gas before the car would move Do i need to adjust the transmission linkage on the throttle body so when gas is given the trans linkage starts moving?

Do you any of you guys put a drain plug in your trans pan for easy fluid changes?

 

The linkage on the side has just about nothing to do with throttle pressure.

It is for kick down / passing gear.

 

i went in and replacer my center support snap ring and the snap ring thats they upgraded to a spiral one now i have only drive in all shift positions can any one help 07 f150 4r75e trans
