Bought my first Lightning

Whats up guys? Well I just bought my first lightning this weekend. I have a few questions. First how accurate is the boost guage? Mine shows that I am pushing 10psi and as far as I know the truck is stock. Also I have been reading about boost bypass and dont quite understand what it is and if I should put the kit on my truck. Anything else you guys think I should know and look out for would be great to. I have read about the spark plugs coming loose so I will watch for that.

I believe a stock L makes around 8psi, and yours may have a 2lb pulley upgrade though. Cooler temps will also affect/increase pressure readings because the air charge is more dense. A bypass valve keeps the motor from pressurizing under normal throttle conditions. If you plan to modify in the future, this is a good upgrade. With yours being an 03, I don't think you should have any issues with your plugs coming loose; Ford doubled up on the threads to remedy this problem.

I was looking under the hood today and the crank pully looks to be aftermarket. I could not find a ford logo stamped anywhere on it. I did see a logo that said Lord and it doesnt look like a manufacture defect. Also the injectors look to be 42Lb. They are green.

42lb injectors are stock, and I'm not sure about the logo on the crank pulley. One of the GEN 2 owners might be more familiar with that.

Just curious, where are you located?

Congrats on your purchase! The boost bypass will keep you from dumping boost and I'd highly recommend it. Mostly a truck with out the bypass will dump boost on the 1-2 shift. You'll be going along just fine in boost land then boom, no boost and you'll get passed by every old lady on the road. Boost will come back after 30 seconds or so. The bypass just eliminates this problem.

As for your lower pulley, here is a stock one...

Here is aftermarket...

Hope that helps!
