I recently bought a used '05 250 PSD SD Lariat with all the bells and whistles including ASG which has the keypad on the door and key fobs with remote unlock capability. The truck came with only 1 ignition key. Looking at the key it appears to be a "plane" key.
Does the key have a chip in it requiring me to go to Ford to get a new programmed key?
I know they want crank without the chip, my friend threw his keys to an 97 model mustang to his girlfriend, keys hit the ground chip came out. she could not start it.
I didn't think it had a chip but I went to a hardware store today to get a key made, the store employee looked it up in a book and pronounced mine to be chipped and said she could not make one. I'll try some where else tomorrow. If it is chipped it must be pretty small as black platic key head is barely bigger than key itself. Worst case I'll end up with a spare door-gate key
Yea I would try different place, A friend of mine with an 07 250 just layed his keys down on my desk and I put mine beside his and his was about a quarter thickness of mine. You can see the small square insert on mine made of a different type of material than the rest of the plastic.
Thats not why I bought it, but that is weird I figured that king ranch would equal up to the same equipment as mine. does the king ranch have...............well nevermind.lol
Just messing around with ya, I would love to have one. But I am looking into putting king ranch seats in my 53 if I ever get to that stage of the build.
wifes sport crap has RFI keys twice the size of my superduty heard tell you can get them keys on flea-bay but you gotta take them to the stealer and get them puutered up
