Doing some research on vans before I buy.
What kind of real life gas mileage can I expect out of a 2007 e350 with a 5.4 and a 3.55 gear. I will not be towing. Im drive mainly on flat highway.

I've got an '02 E150 conversion with a 3.55 and a 4.6 engine. On flat freeway runs with a fairly light load (4 people, bicycles and luggage), I can count on 17-18.5 mpg, and that is not driving slow. I'd bet I could hit 20 mpg driving 60, but just *can't* bring myself to do that.

I've got a spreadsheet which tracks my gas mileage for the lifetime of the van (59k miles) and just updated it--overall average of 16.4. Lots of city tanks in there, and this winter, mileage has really stunk using Michigan winter gas.

With an E350 and the 5.4, I'd guess you could count on 16-18 on straight freeway runs, depending on your load and your speed, and assuming summer gas.

Thanks for the input. I want an e150 but the e350's are everywhere and at some great prices. I just didnt want any gas mileage suprises. Above 15 hwy is acceptable. thanks again

 

With the E-350 you may get gas milage surprise. They weigh more and obviously what you put in it will be a huge factor. Mine gets 9 city, 13 Highway with a full load(7,000lbs) but it is a V10. The 5.4 does get better MPG.(but not as much as you'd think). Have you considered an E-250 as a happy medium. Good luck with your purchase.

 

My van e 250 extended 5.4 3.55 rear avg. 17.4 for the(95,000) life of the van. 17-19 is the norm, I use this for my expediting bus. and think the milage is pretty darn good!

 

thanks for the responses guys. An e-250 would be perfect but they must not make it anymore, in the club wagon. My problem is that an e150 is a little lighter than i wanted and a e350 is heavy for my needs. I thought about a e150 with overload springs or air bags. thanks again

 

My 1995 E250 SuperVan was getting 10 MPG, dropped to 8 in the city over the winter.

Found a leaky filler tube and a plugged filter - hopefully it improves.....

 

Is that the 5.8l or 5.4l. Don't remember when they made the change. The 5.8l can be brutal but the 5.4l should do closer to 12 I would think. The extended obviously weighs more so that's an issue too.

 

5.8l, the old 351W I believe.

And it's been tuned up, at least plugs/wires/cap/rotor/filters not that long ago.

 

2005 e350, avg'd 12.7mpg,highway from houston-dallas last weekend, speed 70-80mph. I would guess 13-14 should be attainable @ 65-70mph.

That's an honest MPG report which is refreshing. These trucks don't get close to 20MPG on the highway unless they're empty and going downhill. Not an E-250 or E-350 with the 5.4. Vans are so non-aerodynamic that good MPG's is just not happening.

 

Do you own mine this is my 2nd one and my milage is what it is! I drive with this van for a living and I stand behind my milage. My miles are 99% highway I get 600 plus miles per tank.

 

The expeditor fella who has over a million miles on an E250 with a 5.4 says he averages about 15 mpg in the winter, 18 mpg in the summer.

The blurb on the mileage is on his little message board. I would say that his sample mileage is about as extensive as could be possible; he's run a *few* tanks thru that van, for sure....

My 1st van had over 500,000 miles on it and it got about the same milage as this one.
