Cylinder misfire '98 F150 4.2L

One more question guys:
I have been pulling a code for a little over 1 year now thats showing a Cylinder #2 misfire. I don't notice the miss, so its not missing hard. I pulled the plugs, regapped them, then replaced them, with no change. Then I pulled the wires and tested them, and replaced them to be safe. No change. Then I replaced the Coil Pack just to be sure, and no change. Anyone have any clues as to what else might be causing this? The only other thing I think it could be is a clogged injector in that one cylinder. Thoughts? Thanks for the advice.

It very well could be the injector. My friend was getting code P301 and it turned out to be a cracked plug.
Try pulling the electric connection to that injector and see if changes.Don't keep it unplugged for long due to possible hydro-locking it!

Yep id say your next culprit is the injector, though you said its running good, and if the injector stoped working then you would know.

You might want to clean out the carbon build up in the intake by the egr and iac motor.

I know this is a late post but here's something for someone in need that is reading this . My 98 4.2 liter was experiencing the same problems described in this forum. Misfire on cylinder 4 replaced plugs wires coil pack the whole nine. After a long trial and error I removed my valve cover to find a bad rocker arm. The pushrod was lodge inside the rocker arm. You would think there would have been a lot of noise coming from the motor but there was actually only a slight ticking sound. Not saying its your issue but it is something to think about.

Thanks for the info. I have a 99 with a #6 misfire, with the same parts having been replaced. I pulled the #6 plug, and look OK as well

It still seems to run good, but its definitely something for me to check.
