Smile 57-60

Just wanted to drop a line and see if any body has a 57-60 Ford truck. Id like to here from you. Tell me about your truck. If its a project tell me what stage your in or if you just bought one what are your plans.

My own truck is a 1960 F-350 ,DRW, 292,T-98a 4 speed, Corinthian white, 9800 G.V.W, 5.14 rear gear, It was built in Chicago Ill. It has a 130 inch wheel base.
My plans are to redo the truck from the frame up. But I wont call it a full blown restoration. After its done Im going to drive it.

Even if you dont have a 57-60 Id still like to here from you. thanks to all.

Just bought a 1960 f-100 long bed with a 292 y block. Sounds like we are in about the same stage. My plans are pretty much the same.

I had a 57 F100 until about 4 years ago. Parts are very hard to find. I took off on a very ambitious restomod and got into a big pickle. I literally gave it away to get it out of my yard. I wish I had the 5.0 and AOD back for my 54 though!

You ought to see what it really looks like! You wouldn't say that. I just wish it would crank and drive off!

What kind of plans do you have. Are you going to keep the Y block?

I'm all over the place with that one. My 54 has a Cleveland 239. Its not as bad as having a Dearborn engine, but it is still a step child. It is not nearly as good as a 57 engine. I don't know if I want to convert much of this one over to the 57 and later type or ditch it all for a later model 5.0 or such. I really wanted to stay with the Yblock until I read where it weighs in only 14# less than a 460. I need several patch panels as well.

Yea I know about the weight, had a guy call me up one day, got my number from a friend, said he had two old ford motors he would like to get rid of. He didnt want no money, just come and get them, he didnt know the size. So I went, turn out they were complete 292s. They both turned over by hand so I took them. When I loaded them up it sit my F-150 on the ground. I know now, next time I get a call Im going to hook up the trailer. It was a good thing I didnt show up in my ranger. HAHAHAHAHA

The 5.0 sounds sweet. Stay in touch with me, let me know how its going. Later!
