I might be leaving FORD.....

I found a deal that just might be too good to pass up.. This guy sent me an email about his Baja Bug to trade for my truck... I grew up driving Baja Bugs... I might have to check this out and see if it is a worthy trade....

64 baha bug - $1800

Well it kind of sucks that you may be getting rid of the Ford. Although bugs are pretty cool.

Ya the bugs are cool, baja or not. Don't quite see them around like you used to. It's amazing just how far a baja bug will go.

I talked to the guy with the bug last night.... I dont think I'll be trading the ford for it. He is asking 1800, but after talking to him, it isnt worth 1800. Maybe 800 max.. TOO MUCH work required, plus it isn't aircared and the carb needs a full rebuild, needs new brakes all around, plus new drums for the rear.

I had a buddy with a bug in my younger days. That thing would go any where.

He has a few things on it that made me drool... like reduction gears from a bus (14" ground clearance to the axels), and an 1600cc dual port, rear axles from a bus, bush guards, skid plates, all the fiberglass is professional "baja bug" from Bow-Wow. very little rust. But it just is not worth, what he is asking.

I have only ridden in a bug a few times, and my buddy has a bug dune buggy. I dont know if I would have traded an f150 for it, unless it was really good.

Im also 6'3 230 lbs right now, I fit alot more comfortably into a truck then a small car!

The one thing VW did right, was their crumple zones. a Bug is one BIG crumple zone. Plus, if I had bought it, I would have put a full on exoskeleton (external roll cage). But then, how many trucks can you roll like this, without doing a whole mess load of serious damage... notice the lack of external damage...

pretty much. I grew up driving rail buggies & baja bugs, and when we rolled them, we would roll em back onto the wheels and keep going.
