Transmission bolt patterns.

We got a Explorer with a A4LD transmission in it, and we have decided we are going to make it 2WD, since the A4LD is shot in it. Okay does a 4R44E bolt up the same as the A4LD? Cause if so we will put one of those in.

motors are the same so i would think the transmission bell housings are the same pattern.. what you will need to consider is the front axle. are you just going to remove the half shafts and leave the pumpkin setting in the middle of the truck? the front wheel drive bearing/ hub assembly relys on the axle shaft to be present and the outer axle nut tight to hold the two bearing halfs together. i guess you could cut off the half shaft at the CV joint and stick it back into the hub and tighten the outer nut???
