08 Expedition recalls (Brakes-latch-Air bag)

Here are the three recalls for the 08 Expeditions. The mushy brake problems do have a fix (I think). See below.

Make : FORD Model : EXPEDITIONYear : 2008
Manufacturer : CONTINENTAL AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMSMfr's Report Date : DEC
04, 2007
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 07E105000 N/A
NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 10481
Summary:
CERTAIN CONTINENTAL AUTOMOTIVE ABS AND ESC CONTROL MODULES SOLD FOR
INSTALLATION ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. SOME OF THE HYDRAULIC
VALVES IN THE ESC MODULE WERE BUILT WITH EXTRA CHECK *****.
Consequence:
THE EXTRA CHECK ***** CAN RESTRICT THE FLOW OF BRAKE FLUID THROUGH
THE VALVE AND CAUSE REDUCTION OF BRAKE FORCE.
Remedy:
EACH VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WILL FILE A DEFECT REPORT AND REMEDY PLAN
FOR THEIR VEHICLES WHICH INCLUDED THESE MODULES AS ORIGINAL
EQUIPMENT. VEHICLES WILL BE REPAIRED AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. OWNERS
CAN CONTACT EITHER THEIR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER OR CONTINENTAL
AUTOMOTIVE AT 248-393-5300 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
Notes:
CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY
ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY:
1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, 'OCCUPANT CRASH
PROTECTION.' THE DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY
ASSEMBLED.
Consequence:
THIS CONDITION MAY PREVENT THE DRIVER AIR BAG FROM PROPERLY
DEPLOYING AND REDUCE OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE YOUR DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE FREE OF CHARGE. THE
RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 20, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT
1-800-392-3673.

You are welcome!

I will be taking the Ex in to the dealer next week and will report if this fix helps the mushy brakes.

Keep in mind... these are not for every 08 expy..

I have a 2008 limited & checked the VIN vs. a dealer and called Ford and had no open recalls on my particular truck. Depends heavily on your mfg date.. i don't recommend calling Ford - they told me 10 times i could do it on the website by entering your VIN.. but i wanted a voice. After the 9th or so time she told me, i figured it might be accurate online also.

The door spring issue was fixed during my tire rotation - oil change scheduled maintenance. Took minutes only.

Really? They have to pull all the door panels off.

I hope mine goes as fast as yours did. I need to get the oil change done soon. I just got my case of Royal Purple off EBay so I should be good to go this week.

Minutes as in about 30 more than a normal 5,000 mile service takes. No more than 90 total.

There's a kit for the recall. Check that the dealer has the parts.

I guess a pro can pull a panel in 5 minutes, put the spring in in 1-2. Sounds about right.

Dealer did my door handle while I was in for some basic TLC...

They should automatically check for these things if they're doing their job properly.

Funny thing was... we'd had no trouble, but they replaced the spring any way.

Well, I got the oil changed BUT no springs. Their system showed they had them but none to be found. The guy before me had the same issue we both got oil changes and tire rotations on the house though. I am now waiting for my call that they are in.
