1976 F350 dually

I have a chance to get a 1976 F350 at an auction. Is there anything specifically I should look for. Thanks

Since they didn't make a factory F350 dually in 76 (unless is was a flatbed, I think) I would look for the quality of the conversion. Others here will have better specifics to look for..
Good luck on the auction!
Dak

Does the front take DRW rims, or SRW?

The truck was used on a farm and looks like they are just regular 8 bolt steel wheels. I really don't know the difference between DRW and SRW.

The front wheels.. Do they come out like this:

Orrr... are they like regular rims??

The point of the above post, if it has Regular Rims, like the 2nd picture, then its been converted and isnt a factory truck.

Its like the first picture (not as fancy) and definitely factory type. The rear is dual wheels. On the inside door panel it has Canadian Trailmobile Corporation, so guess they did the conversion for FORD. I saw the truck this morning and it will need a little work...a few small holes above rocker panels, emergency brake stuck and owner says clutch is not good. I started it and put it in gear but need to raise clutch to very top to engage, so it works but not the way it should. The brakes, wipers, exhaust, lights, horn, window regulators, defroster, guages all seem to work. Its a manual transmission with a 351. I can't tell too much about the suspension but frame looks OK with only a bit of surface rust. Will this truck be money pit or are repairs easy to do?

make sure the brakes are good. there is alot of money( mine was just parts) that could be invested if its worn down. i redid mine all the way, drums, rotors , hydraulics friction bearings and seals. lots of money.

It wouldn't necessarily be a flatbed...F350 dually's were sold as a cab and chassis only. It was up to the buyer to add behind the cab equipment.

For example all the 1973/79 F350 dually's U-Haul owned, had a box on the back. Other bodies could be stake beds, utility beds, dump beds, etc.

There were no factory F350 Styleside pickups with dual rear wheels till 1980.
