08 F150 Heavy Duty Payload Package

According to the specs, the 08 HD Package includes a "10.5 in gear set with 4.10 axle".
Anyone out there know if this is the same rear axle that's in the F250?
Also, is it a floating or solid axle?

Thanks

It Is The Same Size Ring Gear. They Are All Solid Axles. Yours Is What They Semi-floating. F250sd Use A Full Floating

Does anybody know if the spline count is the same (F150HD vs. F250SD).
And/or if I found an F250SD in the wrecking yard with limited slip, could I put the LS unit in the rear of my 2006 F150HD?

Thanks... Bruce

Maybe. They are both 35 splines. You might be better off buying a new Ford limited slip because you'll have to rebuilt the wrecking yard unit.

Forgot to say The Auburn Limited slip that's listed for the 10.25/10.5 is set up to accept c-clips, so you could buy a new one outta the box with a little more grip available.

Thanks for the info Jim.
I've sent an e-mail to Auburn Gear asking for more information.

As for the new vs. used Ford units, I've rebuilt units for the 8.8 before and the kit from Ford was only about $100 and they're really simple to rebuild.

Expensive package !!

It might be cheaper to upgrade to an F250 . This package costs $2500. Thats a big expense and you still have to pay $900 for the 5.4 motor.

Yeah, I'm leaning that way lately. The HD F150s are hard to find in an XLT. And I really miss my F350 since selling it.

Smile My Hd Payload Package Price Was Incorrect

The F150 HD payload package is only $1200.00 . But it still seems the best bet is going with the F250 XLT or F350 for $1000 more . I made the mistake and went with the F150, you are very limited with what you can do with it, such as plowing, a truck camper, etc.
Make sure you go over all your needs and future\ possible uses before you make the big purchase.
