is the truck to big

i have built a 1979 ford f150 4x4 truck. it has a 10in suspenion lift and a 5 in body lift. it came with a 351modified400 and a divorce transfer case. I bought all rough country suspenion shocks and springs and other stuff. I put a set of 42 in supper swampers on it. it is big now but what is ya'lls opion on a set of 54in tires.

What kind of gears are you running? I'd look into some deep gears if you're going that high on tires. Your Trans will thank you man.

i dearly hope that you or someone has swapped out those 1/2 ton axles in lieu of either cromo'd/built D60/10.25 or a set of rockies! just hitting the brakes too hard with 54's will break that D44/Ford 9!

also, not sure i have ever heard of 6.55 gears?!?!

you're truck is going to fall off the frame with a 5" body lift! that is just stupid! bring that down to a 2" body lift and add some suspension lift if needed (which i doubt). otherwise, stay outta my part of town!

i'm thinking BS until i see some pics, nothing personal, just seems theres a lot of people running 15" of lift and 54" michies!

I would say that the max for a body lift is 3 inches, but thats the biggest they are sold right?

for a reason.... even 3" body lift is scarey in my opinion. no one thinks to use larger sized bolts even though they are longer. it'd be a different story if he was using 3/4" grade 8's or something. however i just dont see it.

No pics in a month and a half since to OP.. I call BS. He's probably madly fabbing away with hockey pucks for the body lift, and light bars from a Ted Nugent concet for a subframe, just to make it look like he described.

In the mean time.... I have an 07 PSD, where can I get some 54's so that my quad front shocks dont look out of place. And how can I cut down my brake calipers so I can fit 15 inch wheels on.
