electric door locks

Has anyone here installed electric door locks on a 56? You know like the ones on new cars where you push your keyfob and the doors lock an un-lock.
I still want to use the stock handles on the outside.
Im open to change the handles on the inside, the stock ones I could live without.

Rocky Hinge Co. makes a locking bear claw latch that might work for what you're doing. I think it can be setup for remote control. www.rockyhing.com I'm along way from worrying about that at this point. Please let us know what you decide and how the install goes.

kEITH,

One of the folks that advertise in CT or CCT... Autoloc, maybe... advertise a remote entry kit.. up to about 4 functions. check the advertisers in the magazines.. I know a kit is available. At least for open/close function. Since you're using the orig handles outside it might be a task to get the lock/unlock function. Come on Keith !!! shave them handles off

later

I was at a big hot rod supplier last summer while out of town on vacation. I asked the sales guy about bear claw latches and locks, etc as they sold the autoloc brand. The sales guy, very softly told me to go to rocky hinge for the latches as the autoloc wasn't as well made and they've had trouble with them. FWIW.

My Fibercab came with power door locks and actuators. At first, I didn't think that I would like them, but after getting the truck going I am glad I did. I am using a 7 function remote for the doors and windows. I still have extra functions for the butt massage machine and a trunk lid. I need to call Bebop's though and get the brand of the locks and actuators for future maintenance purposes though. Good luck on your install.

Keith look in my "making changes" gallery for pix of how I modified my stock latches to use the remote lock actuators. I am still able to use the stock handles and key locks.
All the actuators are filled nylon AFAIK, but my mod does not require much effort to lock/unlock, just the effort needed to turn the key. Only need strong actuators if you are actually opening the door latches like with shaved handles, not to operate the lock mechanism. I tossed the switches and used better ones. I once bought a grab bag box of auto electrical part packages that contained several sets of OEM switch replacements if you need some.

thanks ax
thats what I want to do use stock outside handles and have electric locks.
Except Im using bear claws from mid fifty. I like your inside miata handles,
you noted in your that gallery you were going to trim the outer lip do you have to?
I like the way it looks and since I want to use door panels Im thinking It would hide the cut-out ? Am I correct?.... also what type of power window kit is that? Do you like it?

I know this is a old topic but its new to me. Has anyone put the LMC remote control door locks on a F-1? Below is the link, its at the bottom left of page 14. I was thinking this might be a easy way to have the door lock on the drivers side.

I ordered the LMC remote locks for my F1 and couldn't figure any way to use them. LMC was no help other than taking them back. If anyone has a way to install them, I would like to put them in.
