Question Question on water separator/fuel filter on PSD 2008

Does anyone know if the driver-side rail mounted water separator/fuel filter is heated? Could I have a blown fuse or something? Mine keeps waxing up even with tons of fuel conditioners and after replacing the filter. Still no luck at cold temperatures (as around 0 degrees).
The symptom is: The truck will start real well, but when power is needed, it gets fuel-starved and dies. No problem when warm temperatures.

Have you changed your fuel filters? The pump on the frame is only heated by the return fuel form the motor that i know of. Dirty filters will act the same way. Sorry about your probs, hope you get it figured out.

Yes, I changed the filters a month ago (almost no mileage since). So it seems that the HCFM has been changed for the 08 model. I found some reference to HCFM for 2004 Power Stroke that suggests that there is a heating element on that pump/filter.

One other item: My truck was built in January 2007 - among the first 08 models Ford built. I got a $1000 rebate check from Ford as a "thank you for purchasing one of the first" - kinda scary. I have been only once in a Ford shop for a regular oil change/service. I am sure they did not put any updates (at least nothing was stated on the bill to that effect). Aside from the possible excessive exhaust heat issue are there any important updates to consider? If so, is it possible that one or the other may contribute to the problems I am having?

If your fuel gelled your filter on the frame might be crushed from the pump still trying to pump the fuel. Just a thought. There is 2 reflashes that came out after your truck date, you might still have the fire starter flash if so i would get the new one. Dont think that it would cause this prob. I also have a job 1 truck.
