HELP Rear Wheels locking up on 05 f250 diesel 4X4
I got some problems and want to know whjat yall think i got a 05 f250 4X4 and the prolem is when u put it in 4X4 when you turn (at a slow speed also really just on fairly sharp turns) the rear wheels just lock up and the front ones just drag them... Any thoughts???? thanks edwin

I would guess the problem has to do with your locking diff (if you have one). someone will correct me, but I think the diff has a switch or is electronically controlled and might be locking up too early and too often--maybe it thinks you are losing traction when you turn? If that is the case, you may need a new switch (if there is one). If might also be that you could fix the probelm by changing fluid and cleaing out the gears and housing. But--THIS IS JUST A GUESS.

I'm sorry--I missed the part where you said you had it in 4x4. Does it does this while you are on the street? If so, take it out of 4x4. The 4x4 system is a true 4x4 system, not an all-wheel drive system. Although the binding you are describing is extreme, you will get binding from the system if there is not enough slippage under the wheels.
As for the locking diff comment--you're right, there is no factory locking diff; it might have a limited slip diff that is locking up.
