4 Doors Cool?

4 Doors Cool?
OK, as I understand it part of my role as North LA Chairman is to help keep this forum active. Here's one for everyone to weigh in on...
If you're like me, a 50-something, 4-door vehicles were always 'square.' They were only for family cars - guys with kids, responsibilities, A cool man/woman about town would never drive one - ergo the 4-door Mustang, Vette and Z-car. Even 4-door trucks were limited to big white or ghastly yellow things used only by construction crews and State road crews.
Now 4-door trucks are all the rage. From the F150 to the SuperDuty's and we know all the cool mods available and the luxury trim packages. I think I even read (I could be wrong) that all trim level Ford trucks in '09 will be 4-doors. It's like the song says, "I was country before country was cool."
So here's the question - when and why did 4-doors become 'cool!'??

I guess that they became cool in trucks because people are using their trucks for more than just work. People have come to like the extra room even if it's not used for carrying people. I know for my own experience that I now like 4 door trucks. For years I drove regular cab trucks. I still own one. I finaly bought an exteded cab F150 and it was like man what was I thinking. I then graduated to a super crew. That was even better. More room to haul stuff. Driving back and forth to work one person could sleep comfortably. I now have my crew cab super duty and dont want any thing else.
As far as cars I havent seen too many 4 door's that I like. But again I have never owned a car myself.

I like Screws as well, I kinda prefer an extended cab, but I would rather have a SCrew than a reg cab. Just mroe room to p[ut stuff that cant get soaked in the bed of the truck.
As far as cars, I view cars as having only ONE purpose, and that is play. Hence all my cars have been V-8 muscle cars. And that is how it will stay.
