Homemade Throttle Body Spacer

Ok. I am not sure if this is in here somewhere or not but thought I would ask anyways. Has anyone heard of or done it. I have a 1990 f-150 with a 5.8L and I am taking my machinst apprenticeship and have everything available to do it. Is this a good Idea or should I stay away from it?

I've got my cnc machining degree and when I was in college I did the same thing with my 89 s-10. Just go to the auto parts store buy two throttle body gaskets. Take one of your bolts out also so you can buy longer ones.

I measured the inside of the throttle body to get the ID of the hole, and then just measured the gasket to get the approximate shape for your spacer. Worked pretty well, i got extra credit, and saved $100.

it is a good idea to do for the work experience, but as far as putting it on the truck, save the money the gaskets are gonna cost you, cause a throttle body spacer is useless on a fuel injected vehicle. they do nothing but make your wallet lighter.

increasing intake volume only works on carbed engines.
