Transmission TSB

My parents are looking at an 07 Expedition, and its brand new, my friend at the ford dealership ran an oasis on it for me, and it came back with work done on it at the dealership for a transmission problem, it was hard shift between 1 and 2 or something like that. Is it anything to be worried about?

The 2007 seem to have an issue with the software running the tranny. The newest TSB is said to be THE fix. But many have heard that before.

Well, it could be a problem.....I have the 07 expedition and have had 5 TSB updates for the transmission. They all seem to work for a few weeks then the transmission starts shifty funny again. It has been two weeks since the newest release was done and it is still shifting correctly. Only time will tell.

If you parents are thinking about purchasing it, they should definately drive the truck for at least a day or two beforehand....drive in stop and go traffic for 30 minutes or so....drive in highway conditions and make sure it shifts correctly the whole time. Also get the dealership to provide a loaner car if the truck has any transmission difficulties, this should be in writing inside the contract that they will provide the loaner vehicle at no charge. The worse thing you can do is buy a new truck and then be out a vehicle every few weeks because of the transmission. The dealership I use has only seen a few other expeditions with the same problem......but if the oasis states it has already had the issue once....there is a good chance it will reoccur.

Mine has been a pain in the *** for me, everytime i take it in they will not give me a loaner and I am out a car for the day. Its tough when you are in outiside sales and need a vehicle.

Don't get me wrong, I love my expedition when it shifts correctly. Very good vehicle most of the time, just the transmission needs lots of help occasionally.

Test drive test drive and test drive. If you feel any thing funny with the tranny, walk away.
