Hey, the poll I started titled model builders asked a question about how many of you are, were, or would be a model builder. It also asked if a Big Job model was available, how many people would be interested. Well, the guy building a '55 Ford F-700-900 Big Job model for me sent me some photos of his progress. Brad, his name, is a semi professional resin kit builder, and after seeing his progress, I would dare to put him in the professional category. The intentions behind my request for this one off resin build was to have a miniature canvas to get a visual of what my real '55 F-800 could turn out to be like when finished. I am building a '55 Ford F-800 semi, and since there are so many different things that can done to an old Ford truck, and Tractors, I thought having a miniature that I can build up to help with decisions, and finished appearance would be a good idea. The poosibilities are endless when going the route of a custom vehicle, and it is difficult to decide on what would look right, or if something would even work. My truck is intended to be a 55 Ford version of a typical Peterbilt, or Kenworth OTR (over the road) truck, and I don't want to have to get too radical with custom fabrication, and want it to look "stock". The exceptions, of course, being the addition of stainless and polished aluminum accents and addornments. So, in my gallery under the 55 semi album, are a few photos of the '55 Ford Big Job models progress to date. It is still rough, but it is starting to take shape.

I know he is in California. I don't know where. His last name is Lawson. He does resin parts for model big rigs, and I found him on ebay selling some of his stuff. It looked really good, and so I asked him about making a custom kit. He was willing, and so we got the ball rolling.

 

Nice model Joe about 2 years ago I built a crew cab model with wide front fenders. That is before I got infected with big job mania thanks to your web site. If I can figure out how to get a picture of the model on line I will post it. Joe Doyle

Joe Doyles custom crew cab '53 model build. Pretty good looking mine. If you can work metal like you worked the plastic, then your truck should come out pretty sweet.

 

Well, that came out bigger than I thought it would. Oh well, bigger is better.
