1942 ford pickup
hello. i am the proud owner of a 1942 pickup. im 18 years old and did a complete restoration of it. it's taken me 4 years to complete and won 2nd prize at the Detroit Autorama for best pick up overall. for the last 4 years i've wondered how many 1942 pickups were built and how many are still around today. if you have any information on the 1942 ford pickup. please let me know as i am still wondering.

Very nice! From what I've heard, read, etc. Ford suffered a warehouse fire in 1967 that destroyed most of the production records - that's why it's so hard to come up with numbers.
1948 Bonusbuilt trucks of all sizes and configurations:
V8 stopped at vin 139,262
Six cyl stopped at 166,979
Taking an average between the two puts you about 150,000, then divide by what??
The bonusbuilt trucks (48-52 production went by calendar year as near as we can tell)
So you either had 3 months production - maybe 35-40,000 trucks OR only a very few that were in the pipeline and went to civilian purchasers. verything else went military. I'd say anyone who has an authenticated civilian '42 has a rare truck.
This is my best guess anyway.

well, thanks for the help. if you guys need any parts or cheap ideas about how to build your truck, i can help sein as i did all the work. you'd be surprised how easy it is to build one of these trucks. parts are hard to find, but you can build your truck how you want it to, it just takes time.
