Back up sensors

I just bought an 07 expedition, but it didn't come with back up sensors. How hard would it be to add some. Is it pretty much plug and play???

I had the dealer install them for me when I bought mine.

With so many munchkins running around my neighborhood it's better to have that option than not.

I wound up getting it at no cost as the sales guy forgot to add the cost in on our final round of negotiations, but it was written on the purchase agreement, so, freebie!

Hoping its just a plug and play deal. So I don't have to take it to the dealer for install..

I don't know what they have for '08, but they had to drill holes for the sensors in my rear bumper on the '07 model.

If you have the navigation package I believe that there is a rear view camera available, albeit aftermarket.

I would much prefer that over a beeping alarm that goes off everytime I back out of my garage due to the proximity of the door jam on the garage door.....

The 07 I was test driving had the back up sensor package but didn't have the sensors in the bumper like the older EXPY's. If I have todril holes in cover I might consider going with an aftermarket kit with a camera then..

the new ones do not have holes in the bumper, they are behind the cover (our EL does not have visable markers).

The sensors are not bad. They work quite well. I think the camera does better but when used together I have quite a bit of confidence when backing into tight places.

I like the sensors. But if I have to pay the dealer to install the factory ones, might cost as much just to have the camera type installed. Unless the I can get the factory set-up and install it myself..

I don't think you can, the b/u cams on the 08 are in the mirror. Maybe a expirienced installed could wiggle his way into it.

I thought I saw aftermarket mirrors with camera built into them for this type of app...might have been for the honda crowd though.

I see J.C. Whitney offers aftermarket sensor and camera units.

See a wireless sensor unit for $99.99------camera units in the $499 range. Do not see a combination sensor and camera.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/S...-10101/s-10101

found them listed under "back up sensors"

Would like to find out more details on the costs of dealer installation of the factory sensors-----anybody know any more details or cost????
