Question Diagnostic codes

Hi All!!!
It is good to see i am not the only Aussie here in this fine state of Oregon.
Ok here we go.....
I just had a diagnostic run on my 98 F250 5.4l as the "Check engine" light came on on Saturday afternoon after towing my daughters car on a trailer back from Elgin. The codes produced were: PO 174 and PO 170. I understand this relates to the engine running lean?
Could someone possibly tell me the most likely cause of this? O2 sensor maybe?
Is it possible that a cracked manifold could create this? The reason i ask this is because for the last week or so i thought i had a vacuum leak coz i could hear what seemed to be a whistle. Anyhow, hope someone can point me in the right direction here before i start replacing parts.
Thanks in advance,
Tony

A cracked vacuum line could certainly create a lean condition and the whistling you heard. I'd start by tracing all the vacuum lines you can get to under the hood and see if any of them have split or cracked.

Thanks for that Mike!!
I have done my best to trace all the Vacuum lines i can see but didn't find any cracks or splite or even perished lines. I was told to try a good injector cleaner fuel additive and have added a bottle to $20 bucks of gas. See if that helps.
The whstling i mentioned earlier today only seems to happen under load but i couldn't talk my wife into sitting on the fender while i took it for a run! So a little hard to track that one. Guess i will try asking one of the teenage girls i have around the house to do it for me as they seem to think they know everything
Thanks again for your help. Look forward to chatting to you and everyone else soon.
Take care all,
Tony
