Cool This is a crummy way to do buisness with somebody! I finally got shafted.

Last night I paypal the owner of that '79 camper special a deposit for the delivery. I get an email from him sent at midnight stating that I sent him an E-check, not a balance transfer, and that I needed to fix it.(we agreed to do a balance transfer, less fees, and was instant) I went ahead and sent him the deposit again, correctly, (so now he has $300 of my money.) I tried calling him at 10 am this morning to apologize for the mistake, and to let him know that I fixed it. I called several times, I left a message the first time, every other time I get his voicemail right away. By now the truck should have arrived, and I would be $500 poorer, however I have no truck, and am $300 poorer. I am not going to say that I got ripped off yet, I was first in line for the truck, and I screwed up the payment. He emphasised that he wanted the truck gone tommorow. My guess is that he called up the next buyer in line and sold them the truck. If all goes well, I will get my money back via paypal, or fight the bank, and give the guys phone number and name out on some of the boards who do not condone invasion wars, but they dont do anything about it either.

On a positive note, I went to the junkyard and got to fish around in the scrap bin, where they dumped the remnants of a F350 4x4 cab. I scored a tilt stickshift column, clutch pedal assembly, and power booster/master cylinder assembly. I could have gotten the windows out of the doors, but after they left they pushed the cab against one of the walls, and continued filling the bin, denying me access to the upper screws

I know it sucks that this happened to you...
However...I fail to see how this is 73-79 tech related honestly...disucssion should be kept in the chapter threads...not in the tech threads. In fact it should probably be moved to either the Nor Cal chapter thread...or maybe general discussion?

Try to keep the tech threads for tech and not disucssion
Just some friendly advice,
-Chris

better be calling paypal at 402-935-2017 or go online and open a dispute explaining the situation. It may take a couple of days but they will get it straitened out, I have opened a dispute myself.

Good luck

I know this isn't 73-79 tech, but it does involve a '79, and in a round about way, buying them, and teaching others how to buy them is TECH. Me complaining anywhere else would not make much sense, because I am not there bragging about the good cheap stuff I find.

Sorry MB but this is nothing more than an Internet Purchase

It could happen to any year truck or car.

Too many topics are being twisted around to make them sound 73-79 related.

Agreed...
Sorry Tony...it isnt related to repair and the like...but discussion on how you were taken....it belongs elsewhere.
-Chris
PS I hope you undertand it isnt anything against you...I promise...its just that theres been a lot of posts lately that havent had much to do w/ tech specifically.

I got lucky by the skin of my teeth. After a day of snafu's the guy showed up at my house at 7:18, with my truck. He just left, at 10:30. We figured out how to cancel the first deposit, I handed him the remaining balance, he gave me the keys and the title, and we chit chatted for the next 3 hours.

Lucky (and stupid) for me, had I been more patient, I would have never gotten my britches in a wad.

I am in the Eldorado up by Sac, this thread was moved to the wrong forum.

Glad to hear you were able to get your truck, and did not have to go the dispute route. I had my truck sold on ebay, but the buyer was taking his time in paying me. He wanted me to drive it down to the Hollywood Hills but when the day came to do that he stopped responding to my messages. Two days later, 3 juvenile delinquents burned my truck to the ground, so I had lost the sale. No money had switched hands yet as he was to paypal me a $400 deposit before I drove down there. They only thing I had to dispute was the final value fee from ebay. They charged me $50 because the truck sold. However, it only took a day to get that removed as the buyer agreed that we did not continue with the transaction.
