e40d to c6

ok I cant figure out what is wrong with my e4od tranny so I would like to swap my e4od for a c-6 tranny...can someone tell me what I need to do to do that (if it can be done) I really don't want to put any more money into this p.o.s tranny.
It has been rebuilt 2x in 2 years. I would really like a tranny that I can count on and I think the c6 is my best option,,,,,I just don't know what is involved in doing it. any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't need the 4x4 cause I never use it, if it will work on the c6 than i will probably use it....it a borg warner 1356
I have a 1992 ford f150 4x4 e40d eec-iv

I've seen way too many successful E4OD rebuilds that would steer me towards rebuilding mine if I needed it vs. changing towards a C6.

The ECU you have will look for an E4OD so a minor tuning change will be needed (something to tell the ECU that it's in N). You have to move your trans cross member, find another driveshaft and get used to not having OD.

Find a trans shop that will stand by its work. C6's break too, and if they are old and used up, and the same "repair" job is done on one, it'll be junk too.

If properly built the E40D is a great transmission. If your truck is lifted a gearing change might be necessary, or if you have a ton on power you might need a shift kit. But I have seen these transmissions take 200,000 no problem.
