If the AdvanceTrac with RSC is engaged at all times why is there a RSC button on the dash? When does it need to be used?

 

When you turn it off.

Yeah, when you want the tires to slip, as in peel out, or whatever reason.

 

So the button turns it off?

 

Yes, otherwise it is always on.

 

So if it is turned off...how well does it peel out on the dry?

 

Not that good with new tires. On a turn better.

 

I didn't think it would very do it very well.....but interesting.

AdvanceTrac_ with RSC button and icon functionality
The AdvanceTrac_ with RSC system automatically turns on each time
the engine is started, even if it was turned off when the engine was last
shut down. All functions of the AdvanceTrac_ with RSC (RSC, ESC,
Engine Traction Control, and Brake Traction Control) will be activated at
start up. When the system is left active, the “sliding car” icon in the
reconfigurable telltale (RTT) location in the message center will flash
only when any of the components of the system are affecting the
vehicle’s performance, otherwise the light will remain off. Consequently,
the “sliding car” icon will not be illuminated during most of your normal
driving.
The AdvanceTrac_ with RSC button,
located on the center stack of the
instrument panel, allows the driver
to control certain features of the
AdvanceTrac_ with RSC system
below 25 mph (40 km/h). If the
vehicle is below 25 mph (40 km/h), momentarily pressing the
AdvanceTrac_ with RSC button will disable RSC, ESC and Engine
Traction Control and steadily illuminate the “sliding car” icon. Pressing
and holding the AdvanceTrac_ with RSC button for more than five
seconds will further disable the brake portion of the Traction Control
feature and the “sliding car” icon will flash momentarily and then
illuminate steady.
If the vehicle is above 25 mph (40 km/h), momentarily pressing the
AdvanceTrac_ with RSC button will steadily illuminate the “sliding car”
icon, however, the AdvanceTrac_ with RSC system will remain enabled
until the vehicle speed drops below 25 mph. If the vehicle speed
decreases below 25 mph (40 km/h), the system will become deactivated,
but if the vehicle speed subsequently increases to above 25 mph (40 km/h),
the system will again become active. In general, the system will be active
at all times the vehicle speed is above 25 mph (40 km/h).
When in R (Reverse) or in 4L (4x4 Low), ABS and the Traction Control
feature will continue to function, however ESC and RSC are disabled.
All these conditions are normal during AdvanceTrac_ with RSC
operation. Refer to the following table.

07 That is very helpful. I have been lurking and getting ready to by one but not having a rear locker scared me as jobsites are a daily occurance and sugar sand isn't fun with electronic traction control but this looks interesting.

Monte, go with the 4x4 if you spend any time on job sites. It will be worth it

 

I've only tried my 4x4 once and it seemed to provide excellent traction in loose dirt. I've been stuck before with my old rwd van with a locker wishing I had 4x4, which is why I spent the extra $$ for 4x4 this time.

 

Can anyone tell me if you command 1st gear in 4lo do you get it? Per the manual it says that you do not get 1st gear in 4lo with the trans in drive. Can anyone verify that you can lock in 4lo 1st gear. RPMs should run a hair over 2000 rpms at 5 mph. Hate to be picky but this would be a great help.

 

This is correct, in 4 low it does not start out in 1<SUP>st</SUP>, you need to manually shift into 1<SUP>st</SUP> t get it. I realized this while on a boat ramp, unless you manually put it in 1st gear while in 4 low it would drift backwards

 

Thanks for the help. That is what I was wondering. If it's second gear, that's not the greatest but since you can command 1st that is a stout ratio. Boat ramps can always be fun, I've used one where it took a F-350 Dually and F-350 SRW to pull a 28 ft boat out at low tide.
