I Want One!!!!!

I am still looking for an 8BA or Mercury flathead in or around Northern Georgia. Southern Tennesse, South Carolina, and Alabama are all considered close so anybody got any info?

239 Flat Head

I have a 239 in an 46 school bus. I am working on getting it back to GA from CO. I will let you know when I have it here. I am 60 miles NE of ATL.

Do you know what model it is? I would really like to have an 8BA and I think they were produced from 49 - 53. Let me know when you get it I would like to look in to it anyway.

What city do you live in? If you are 60 miles NE of ATL we are probably not that far from each other.

If the distributor is mounted on the front of the engine, it's not an 8BA block.

I have an engine for sale if you know of anyone looking.

Here is the info. that I got off the net, with the numbers that I entered. Is this information correct? What year is this engine?

239 CU. IN. FORD V8 (3.9L)
INTAKE: ECW9425-A
RED FORD: ("D" ROTATED 90 DEGREES WITH A CIRCLE AROUND IT) + 2
FIRING ORDER: 15486372
BLOCK: EBV6015C (1946-53)
48.L (CIRCLED)

Passenger Side Head - EBU6090 48E: FORD 16
Driver's Side Head - EBU6090 06V: FORD 11
Intake: 59V (I believe!)
There was a letter "B" over both number "9"s in the part number.

EBV is a 239 cu. in. V8 from a 1955 pickup and has small cam bearings.
ALL FORD BLOCKS HAVE 6015 in the block casting number.
Block identification number generally on side of block above oil filter for blocks cast at Cleveland.

I've been told that there are only 40,000 original miles on the engine. Can you help me determine what this engine really is?

I don't know much about the 55 trucks. I do know that flathead production ended in 53. I think there was a 239ci Y block but I am not sure. If you don't get a better answer, try posting this in the 1948 - 1960 forum. I am sure someone there could tell you.

the 8BA was produced from 49-53 in the states and from 49-54 in canada. Dont forget to look up here, we got lots of old trucks. I might be mistaken but didnt the 55 have a 272/292 y block? If its a flat head you prolly dont have the right heads for the block (up here in Canada its a bad problem) People always replace a head or two. Your best bet might be the numbers off the intake. Heres a link to check if its a flathead or not.

That is the firing order for a flatty tho.

hey NumberDummy, on my 53 (which has original 50,000 mi 8BA flatty) the distributor is located at the front leaning towards the passenger side.

I bought the engine in the US, so I'm guessing it's a US engine.
I've looked it up and it is a y-block.
