Police offer tips for stopping GPS thefts—

Prompted by numerous GPS thefts across Maryland, police are handing out microfiber cloths to remove evidence of the suction cups used to hold the expensive directional tools.

Montgomery County police are distributing 1,200 cloths this week at the Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg to emphasize the need for removing the GPS unit and wiping off the windshield to remove evidence of the suction cup. Carroll County Sheriff's Office says not hiding the units - or evidence of them - has led to an "enormous amount of thefts from automobiles in the past year." Howard County police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn said motorists should lock the device in the trunk of the car.

Thieves are better educated these days, I guess, to recognize a suction cup ring. LOL

Ford Developing Thrifty Gas Engine

August 1, 2007

Ford has announced that it will introduce advanced-technology gasoline engines to improve its corporate average fuel economy (CAFE).

Lincoln's MKS sedan is expected to be first to receive this new power plant next year, called the TwinForce engine. TwinForce uses advanced valve-train designs along with direct fuel-injection and twin turbochargers to provide fuel mileage similar to diesel, Ford says. The company also claims that it will produce the power of a V-8 with the economy of a V-6.

Later, the design will be extended to inline-4 engines in a variety of models by 2011. In about two years, deceleration fuel shut-off will be incorporated. It shuts off fuel completely when decelerating and coasting.

Another technology Ford is touting is the “Powershift” six-speed, dual-clutch transmission. This is expected to boost mileage further. Ford hopes to have 70 percent of its lineup new or refreshed by the end of 2008 and all by 2010.

Trunk? Does anyone remember the locking "boxes" under the bed, just behind the passenger side door that Ford P/U's had in the sixties and seventies? I guess that could be a P/U Trunk! Wish I had one now.......

What's new? Nissan takes that old storage design, Toyota takes our old name style, T100, instead of F100, so what's next? What is it that they say, "mimicry is the greatest form of flattery? Everybody wants a piece of #One!

My old 66' F-250 Camper Special had one of those boxes, I used to keep a jack and lug wrench in it. I heard Toyota and chevrolet merged and are now called Toy-Let!

Did you know that the do not call listing is due to expire soon if you registered your phones, it was only good for five years, this was in the newspaper this weekend, it will soon be time to re register your phone and cell phone numbers if you do not want telemarketers calling, to register your phone go to donotcall.gov. thought you might want to know this
