HELP: Are '89 and '94 coil packs and ign. module the same?

I posted this earlier today on the Ranger site, but since I need a fast answer and have received none, I'm reposting to this forum as I think it may be the more appropriate place.

Are the coil packs and the ignition module the same on the '89 2.3L Ranger and the '94 2.3L Ranger? I'm looking for the coil packs and module for my '94, and there's a local guy who has them from an '89 for a decent price. They look the same but are they???

Thanks for any help---

Sorry the answer didn't come as fast as you wanted. The Ranger & B-series forum gets way more traffic than this one, I would think you'd get an answer sooner there...

But as far as I know, the coil packs are the same so you should be okay. I believe you could even use one V8 coil pack...

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. If I had been using my head, I wouldn't have had to have asked the question on the forum at all. Right after I had reposted, I realized that I could use Autozone.com to get the answer. I checked the parts for the two years of Ranger on their website and found the same part number for both years. I bought the coils and module. Next time, I'll think before I post.

Thanks again,

Actually, I often do the same thing with Kragen's site but I didn't bother in this case as I was pretty sure they were the same.

Nothing wrong with posting your questions though. There are often other sources of the information we need out there on the 'Net, but there's a sort of feeling of kinship to ask your questions here among friends, plus you often get little bits of extra info to go along with it.

You're definitely right about the kinship/community aspect of this forum. I don't know what I would do without the availability of some very knowledgeable people. I have only old vehicles, and I know no one around here who tries to keep older Ford trucxks going. So, I'm often on the forums asking for information. I appreciate the time people put into replying, and I try to return the favor by responding to the queries of others when I think I can help. There is no doubt though that I receive far more than I give. For that I am truly appreciative.
