Need hotel recommendation for El Centro

I'll be headed down to Holtville in August to have John Wood install one of his tranny's in my 7.3 Excursion. I'll be coming down a day early since I live a little over 8hrs north, on the Central Coast, and I need to be at his shop by 7:30am.

Does anyone know of a clean, decent place to stay in El Centro? I did a search and turned up quite a few choices, from the expensive Holiday Inn Express, to the cheaper places, but I was hoping some of you SoCal men might have a good recommendation for me.

Thanks.

Stewart

From the 2007 tour book of the Auto Club Of SoCal.

Super Star Inn (2 star) One person: $49-54; Two persons: $59-64 a night. 760-352-0715

Value Inn and Suites (2 star) One person: $42-60; Two persons: $46-65 a night. 760-352-5620

These are the cheapest places listed.

Thanks for the info!

I wasn't so much looking for the cheapest place, but instead am looking for a clean, decent place. Cheap is good too though, if it's clean, safe, and decent! LOL

I was hoping someone close-by might know, simply because they're from that area, of one place being better than another.
