No dipstick for the trans

Gee,I was suprised to find that our 2007 eddie bower expedtion has NO dipstick for the trans, I know that i seldom check the fluid, maybe 1 or 2 time's a year but i like to look at the color of the fluid and smell it to see if it's burnt, but why did they do that, yes the dealer change's the fluid in my 2002 f 350 and will in the new expedtion but i like keeping an eye on it,btw,my son took his 2004 6.0 f 350 in for the change and when he got home the truck was 1 1/2 qt's low!!!!,he went back and they topped it off and gave him the 1/2 qt that was left, how would you know if they screwed up with out the dipstick, is this only on the new 6 speed trans in the expedtion's or is this on every thing they make for 2007 , BAD IDEA FORD!!!!. Im a hand's on guy.

they are doing it to every new model vehicle. My 05 ford explorer i had didnt have the dipstick either. It is strictly a cost saver for ford, imagine how many thin pipes that they didnt have to fabricate or purchase. If ford continues on the path they are going and cutting corners to save money, they will be out of business.

Ford says that the trans is good for 100,000 miles, and therefore. does not need a dipstick. My 2002 Explorer did not have trans dipstick, and I hated that. My 06 F350 SD with the Torqueshift trans, has a dipstick for the trans.

Your 05 has the 4R75E transmisson and yes the dipstick is there but is halfway hidden under the ECM on the passenger side.

Geee What next.
Well this explains why I could not find the transmission dip stick on my 2007 Expedition. Speaking of "dipstick" sounds like they have a few at Ford engineering. So how do you add fluid? and if you did, how would you know how much was added? How do you check the fluid for fluid quality?
Now I know why "three years or 36,000 miles".
