Bill,

It is a place where anyone can broadcast themselves.

Bye the way, I had a 1967 Galaxie 500 with a 390CI that I regret selling.

OFF topic here, but...When the 1967 full sized Fords came out, the general consensus at the time among the salesforce, mechanics and parts dummies, was it was the best looking Ford ever made. Some callled it a Fordillac..because Cadillac's from this time frame had chromey grilles and stacked headlights. IMHO, it's better looking than any Cadillac from the 1960's. I never owned one..I HATE smog garbage, and 67's had that awful and worthless smog pump, at least here in CA they did. Until recently all that chit had to stay on.

Son, if you can ever show where I make excuses for a Toy.....I'll send you $20.

The fact is they have more power, better brakes, a 6 speed trans etc....

If Ford has a stronger frame, more power to 'em.....let's hope they concentrate on the other aspects. On a personal note, I'm not digging how busy that '07 grill is.....I guess Ford had to change "something".

I would also like to see a Super Duty make that run, just to see the results.

Fact: The Tundra has more power
Myth: That extra power benefits the Tundra. Due to less payload and towing capaity in most configs (6.0 GM vs 5.7).

Fact: The Tundra has "Bigger" brakes
Myth: Those brakes do not stop the truck any better. it is heavier, so it needs bigger brakes. Just like a Semi has bigger brakes than an Escort.
Fact: Tundra's manual specifically states that ANY trailer over 1000 lbs MUST have it's own brakes. Bigger is better huh?

Fact: Tundra has a 6 spd
Fact: So does GM, and Ford will soon.
Fact: Tundra offers it in more configs. Yep, a plus for Toy here, but shortlived, hope they aren't hanging their hats on that one.

Fact: Ford and GM (and Dodge) all have superior Fully Boxed Frames, toyoyo has the Tripletech frame.

Fact: Toyoyo does not even offer a rear locking diff.

Fact: Toyota's quality reputation is under severe scrutiny. If they lose that, they are in big trouble.

No argurment here, but how much does power play a role in payload? Wouldn't that be a frame issue? ( oh oh here we go again! ) Towing #'s are close if you want to tow that weight with your 1/2 ton.

Please post braking distance comparisons so I can draw my own conclusion please? As for specifications on trailer weights and brakes, liablilty issue I'm guessing. You should know something about liability.

Does GMC/Chevy offer it in a 1/2 ton? Sincere question.

Until the Tundra is out long enough for some real long term testing on how their frame stands up, just assumption.

Yes because we all know Ford, Chevy/GMC, and Dodge have NEVER had any issues quality that scrutinized their reputations.

I agree, ALL of the towing capacities for 1/2 tons are greatly inflated. Just using them for comparison purposes only. (not going to the frame again, that dead horse has been beaten)

Please post braking distance comparisons so I can draw my own conclusion please? As for specifications on trailer weights and brakes, liablilty issue I'm guessing. You should know something about liability. I would, but they are all over the place, some favoring the Tundra, some favoring the GMs, There are too many variables. But in all cases the numbers were very close. Whether it's liability or whatever, the point is GMs limit is 2x (2000 lbs) that of the Tundra. Draw your own conclusion here.

Does GMC/Chevy offer it in a 1/2 ton? Sincere question. Yep, in the Sierra Denali and Yukon Denali it is standard.

Until the Tundra is out long enough for some real long term testing on how their frame stands up, just assumption. Again, and this is the LAST time I will say it. Frame quality goes far beyond just "staying together", no they will probably never "fail" or come apart. But they do play a huge role in the performance of the truck (handling, ride and build quality, fit-n-finish, tolerances, weight/strength ratio, fuel economy, etc).

Yes they have, and that reputation is hard to change, as they are finding out now. They build MUCH better vehicles today than 10-20 years ago, but it will take a long time to change a tarnished reputation.

Exactly my point, how these performance aspects you point out are affected will be determined over time.

Again no arguement here. ( what the hell is going on? ) This engine recall business for the Tundra "may" tarnish their reputation in the 1/2 ton market but it would probably take a major problem/recall to tarnish any of the Japanese when it comes to cars. Why I have no clue. I can tell you that I heard more instances/stories of Camary's and Accord's that have a boatload of miles on them and are still running strong then I have heard from any Domestic car brand out there. Not to say it's gospal, just my experince.

Wrong, performance advantages are measurable from day one. Handling, Ride quality, strength/weight ratio, torsional stiffness and especially the panel gaps. Go measure the gaps sometime. And PLEASE don't tell me you bought into the "We made the panel gaps big to make the truck look tough" Kool-Aid. That one takes the cake as far as Toyoyo marketing goes.
