I would start by disconnecting all of the lines to the injectors than crank the engine over to purge all the dirt and air out of the fuel lines.
Then reconnect the lines and back off about a quarter turn on each injector to purge out the remaining air. It should fire right up after that

Charge the batteries first and have them hooked up to jumper cables when you go to start it. I'd drain the fuel and change the filter. If you can get to the fuel lines, loosen them at the injectors and crank a few seconds until fuel drips out of the lines. That's how we used to get old tractors fired up. Just be ready to lean on the accelerator a little when it catches until you get all the air & bad fuel out of the lines.

also get a couple fresh fuel filters and some marvel mystery oil or Lucas oil or diesel clean.-Just something to lube the IP.
you will probably need new o-rings on the return lines after messing around with it-mcmaster carr pn 9464k24. you'll know if it is hard to start the second time. put a fresh filter full of 50/50 clean diesel marvel or lucas. follow USMC diesel should be good after that. BTW it's a 5/8" open end wrench for the injector fittings

Or do like my brother in law whos Ford diesel farm tractor set out for a year and a half. I'm standing there while he puts a battery in and made the comment this is going to be a @@@ to start, he hits the starter I don't believe it made three revolutions and was running. Had it been mine I'd still be cranking.
