Found an honest mechanic!!!

I found an honest mechanic.....honest..I did

The right side dual on my truck had rotted off behind the glass pack. Whoever did the job last used steel pipe......all the way from the manifolds back. It looks bad....all rusty.
Anyway.....I had one 3"
tip hanging out the left rear....and the hanger on it was broke so it bounced up and down....lol.
Every shop I went to said all of it had to be replaced....$350. Today I went to another shop I knew of and he gave me a price.....same thing....
On the way back home I spotted a sign....Kenny's Muffler and Pipe....had never seen it before. I stopped in and he put it up in the air and said all it needed was a pipe from the muffler out and a new 3 X 16" tip to match the other one. Said the pipe looked bad but was solid.
All done.........$100.......took him about an hour.

Here's the best part......While he was working on it we were talking and I said I was starting to get some oil up in the airbox. He asked me if I'd changed the pcv and I told him I just bought one and was going to....it was laying on the seat. When he put the truck down he opened the hood and replaced the pcv valve for me.....and wouldn't take a nickel for doing it.

Good clean shop and a nice guy. He'll get more of my work!
Just wanted to let you know if you look long enough....you will find somebody good.

Is that place between Ft.Inn and Simpsonville with a man made from pipe and an old muffler next to the highway? Highway 14?
Sorry I didn't see this was in Goose Creek.
I leap before I look.

Hwy. 417..
I think your speaking of Danny's Muffler Shop... he has done some custom work for a few friends and myself. Kinda pricey for some things but seems to do good work. Mostly carries (iirc) Dynomax, IMCO and a few others. He will install 3rd party exhaust kits also...

Casey....here goes

His shop is on a street to the left......off 17A (going toward Moncks Corner) about a 1/2 mile past the Exxon at the corner of (the road the drag strip and humane society are on...That is Cypress Gardens Rd isn't it?)
The building is the second one off 17A and he has a sign on the street corner and 17A (I don't know that street name either...first one left after passing the Exxon) "Kennys Muffler and Brake". He's closed Sun. and Mon.

I just realized I don't know any of the names...lol......I just go there.
Anyway........call me if you can't find it.....906-6244.......I'll meet you and take you there.

He just turned my front rotors, greased the truck and checked my rear brakes and drums for wear (still good...probly 10k left)........$70.

There exists another shop out in my little corner of the woods on hwy 183, dacusville tire & brake, as long as it is John or Johnny (owner) who do the work your fine, great for anything except balancing tires. Just my two cents worth been taking my truck and wife's Yukon XL here now for the last 4.5yrs. Very reasonable and Johnny won't replace parts on you the way FORD would just because they couldn't figure out the CPS is the root of most 7.3's issues, or WD40 doors to fix the dome light, or the ABS Sensor atop the rear differential is what is really affecting your speedo and ABS light on the dash.

Good to hear that. How far is that from Columbia? I'm a new guy in these parts, came down from Virginia. Anyone know of any good shops to do some custom work on trucks in Columbia?

It is approximately 2 hours from Columbia Mall on I26 to get to Dacusville, probably too far for you. I have a coworker who lives out near me used to work in Columbia I will check with him and post a reply shortly if he is aware of any 'Honest & Reliable' mechanics in Columbia area.

Bob, finally have a partial answer for you, at exit 111A there is an automotive shop or at least used to be AJ's or AL's automotive repair, my buddy is calling today to see if they are still in business and if they are still there. Should be able to repost this evening.
