While I don't run used oil in my 7.3, I do run a 25% mixture in my 6-71 Detroit.(the old 6-71 really doesn't like this new fuel) When I have clean hydraulic fluid, I will run as much as 50% mixture of it. I have run this engine for several years at these rates with no adverse affects.

I have a friend who is running an older Mecedes 4cylinder non turbo on 75% used oil and 25% gasoline. He has run this car for over 2 years like this, and has no problems with it. He does have a mixing system which filters down to 2 microns.

Coincidence that I just posted a similiar question here:
http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9751014871/m/5101055591

In reading the above link from Fabmandelux, it seems that some have run UMO with next to no filtering. In my query on the other forum I am talking about processing it just as I do my WVO, which many call overkill in the steps I take. This would include a mistwash for acids, settling, heating to seperate water and filtering down to 1 micron nominal.

I have a friend they run 50/50 on the farm.

I think they only run 25/75 in the trucks if they do though.

If you are going to mix in motoroil, Filter it good. There are metal particles in the oil, injectors probablywont like them much.

I would Mix it slow. start out with a small mixture if your serious with it. only 10/90.
To much and they get a little cranky. Anotehr guy on here tried it though, he said that his ford took a dump. =*( poor truck.

Do you recall some keywords in the thread so I can find it? This is something I've been seriously considering as I'll be picking up an older diesel soon....maybe today

Thnx.

That's the look that I posted that I didn't see where his motor blew up but where it only clogged the filter then after posting my response here I realized I hadn't clicked to page 3....since I can't delete posts here just dropped it to an embarassed look.
