and its funny how chrysler is top on the jobs per car sold....yet it is foriegn owned, funny how they threw it into the equation to bump up domestic numbers.

So is it better to buy a Ford Fusion, with 30% domestic content, than a Honda Accord, which has 70% domestic content?

 

I read through all the info posted. Figures were primarily based on 2005 stats. But what 2005 stats? The ones posted in January 2006? Or stats that were published in January 2005? If published in 2005, those figures reflect 2004.


There is one way to easily check what vehicle has what parts content. By law, it has to be listed on the MSRP window sticker.

 

From memory the fusion is 65% or so (but I can't really recall) - but I understand the point you are trying to make...

Did'ja notice that the guy who said "it was confusing" inre to Domestic Content is the founder of the Level Field Institute? That's the same group the OP of this thread posted the link to.


The guy is the founder of the Level Field Institute and is confused? Wasn't that the reason the Institute was founded, to spell out domestic content and how many jobs the US based auto makers provide compared to companies based elsewhere?

Well Mr. Cole, IMO, based on simple logic, I think that would be at least 51%. Which makes Ford's Fusion - foreign, and Honda's Accord - American.

Thanks, Mr. Cole for clarifying this issue........Now, what to do about that pesky Mexican-built (foreign) Super Duty in my garage. Hmmm.....
