Question Transmission won't go forward and barely goes reverse.

My C4 transmission stopped going forward and barely goes in reverse. If i rev it, it kinda goes forward until it warms up and then nothing. Can still get reverse with higher rpms sometimes after that. I checked the pressure and it is very low in all selections. Has anyone had this problem and what was the culprit. I am trying to better understand how these things work. Also I would try to search for previous posts for the answers but can't seem to get the search on this site to work. Thanks for your time.

Id say you torque converter was shot. It pumps the fluid and turns the transmission input shaft.

Sorry, I gotta ask, Did you check the fluid level?
What color is it? Does it smell burnt?

YOu could change the fluid and filter if it has been a while. If the filter is plugged with the normal buildup of crap, the pump will have a hard time making pressure.

I disassembled the transmission and the forward clutch assembly is shot, anybody know where I can get another. The junk yards around here don't d\seem to have any c4 transmissions for parts. I guess I need a forward clutch hub? It has a little wear on the end from the belville return spring and maybe a forward pressure plate and the flat rear pressure plate.

Check out a few of the site vendors. You can also use google to find the part you are looking for. I've used Broader Performance to get my parts from before as well. They carry everything you could ever want to do to it or repair it to stock. Plus they have a great tech service department to help with anything you buy from them. http://www.broaderperformance.com/c4...sion_parts.htm
