Hi guys ... question for y'all. I've got a wonderful fuel guzzling 4barrell Holley on my 351W (`85 F150), and I'm having some trouble getting it set up.
I haven't adjusted one of these things in 20 yrs since highschool ... I'm lost.
My truck was running a weeeeee bit rich, so without thinking I started screwing around with the idle mixture screws ... now it's running like a tank and I'm waiting for the engine to shake itself lose from the mounts ... hehe
Is there an easy way to figure out the proper adjustments for this, aside from sound and feel ? I've tried it and can't figure it out, and can't find any "specs" in any previous posts, or on the Holley website.
I'd GREATLY appreciate any help !!!!

for the life of me i can't remeber but something keeps coming to mind about all the way in, back out 1 1/4 turn then play? but who knows that could be motorcycle, snowmobile, lawnmower, i forget. Damn I'm not smarter then a 5th grader?

 

Check to make sure that your float adjustments are not set too high.
That should ring a bell.

I replace mine with an Edelbrock.

 

You should adjust the idle mixture for the highest smoothest idle. Turn slowly and let the engine adjust before moving on or back. You can use a vacuum gage to help. Go for maximum vacuum.
I also have an edelbrock and it very accessible and easy to adjust, probably because they went and put the fuel input on the side, goofy.

Thanks once again for the help guys .... now she purrrs little a kitten (when she runs). I puked the battery the other day, and now I seems to be having some electrical issues. Hang around, I'll likely be back with new questions .... hehe
