Well, it sounds like everybody out there is getting better deals than what my dealership offered me: $270 for the flush and $320 for the flush and external filter only. Needless to say, I just ordered the Mercon SP for around $4/qt and the filters and did it myself.

The tech told me that my pan and filters were the cleanest hes ever seen! and i beat the sh#% outta it....he is cool guy, replaced my HG and put ARP headstuds in for me, and only charge 200 bucks!

I wouldn't mind $200 or so at all. Our last motorhome with Cummins and Allison had to be changed at 5K and then every 15K. At 5K I switched to synthetic which is supposed to go 100K. Cost me $740!

Thanks Partsman;

I will check the tech. section out. Maybe the guys at the service desk don't really know what goes on in the shop because they all acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. I was starting to think I mis-read the thread.

If they act like they don't know then they probably don't! You might ask to see, before you commit to anything, their tranny flush machine and ask what the procedure is. If they still act dumb then RUN to another dealership.

OK, guys;
Today I went to my local IH (Navistar) dealer to pick up some fuel and oil filters. Their service manager went out of his way to hook me up with a transmission mechanic at a nearby Ford dealer who said yes there is a thermostat in the trans. system and yes they have a the proper machine to heat and flush the fluid and the price is $170 (filters would be extra). I understand that the 2006 F-250 uses the more expensive trans. fluid; so I think it sounds reasonable.

You should buy that SA lunch sometime. Guys like that seem harder and harder to find.
