Ok guys what kind of MPG are you getting?
Im feeling kinda silly here but with 686 km changed over to miles is 426 miles.
then changing the litres over to gallons, its either 29 US gal or 24 Imp gal and with that im getting 14 mpg using US gal and 17 mpg using Imp gal.
so for piece of mind I like the 17 mpg. what is everyone else getting or have I done a bit of bad math lol

When I figured out mine I was at 16 (highway). I was using 3.79 litres to a gallon, which ever version that is.

 

that is the US gal so I guess I will be close to your mileage once I get over the new exhaust lol and keep my foot out of it. this tank I will try really hard to just drive the truck normally. Oh ya I also straight piped the truck and put my New muffler in the basement. will repost after a couple tanks to see where I am with it.

 

With my 97 I get around 21 mpg. With my 89 it got around the same too. I was really impressed with both of my trucks!

 

Keeping the foot out of it is the hard part. I got that milage while being really nice with the skinny petal on a longer trip to Chilliwack last year. I got 16 both down and up, so the hills did not make a difference. In our Expedition I get 20 doing the limit.

 

I've got a 2004 s.d. F-350 4x4 auto. 6.0 and according to the computer Its getting a steady 12.2 mpg. I say steady because the damn thing never seems to move change! Either I'm VERY consistant with my driving or the computers busted! I remember once shortly after I got it (6 months ago) I did my own math and I got 14.5 mpg. with a combo highway/town driving. Since then I don't really care what my milage is. I didn't buy it for fuel economy anyway. If I wanted fuel economy I would've got a "Micro-machine."

 

turbo, every time you go on a long trip, reset your mileage computer, and it will start a new average for that allotment of driving. we thought our 7.3's comp was busted too, turns out you have to reset it every time you drive(or fill up, not 100% sure) to get an accurate read. which is still not as accurate as actually doing the math, but gives you a better roughish idea.

as for my Ranger, i aint got no clue yet, drive it home in the dark and it hasnt moved since

 

you are correct on the " I didn't buy it for fuel economy" nor did I. I like my truck and will drive it before we drive in my wifes little sunrunner 4x4. was just curious about the mileage thats all. still want to get gauges for it next and then a levelling kit or maybe 4" lift, but that is in the future no rush for the lift. as for my bronco II something was wrong with that Im sure because it cost me alot for gas in that thing and I drive the 350 just as much.

I had always heard ( long before I got my F-350) that diesels get pretty good fuel milage. Again, I didn't buy it for the economy, but years ago I remember guys I worked with talking about 3/4 and one tons getting around 20 mpg or more. It seemed to me that it would be the best of both worlds.....power and fuel economy. Now with my truck I'm getting the same as my previous truck...an 86 suburban w/350 engine. A good enough vehicle but light years behind my 04 F-350!

 

our 02 7.3 averages around 20-22 with no load, my grandpa's 04 does like 16, something wrong with that truck though

 

most of the time mine has no load either. But when I think about it, most of my driving is around town so the milage wouldn't be that good anyway. I suppose I should break out the calculator and do the math again for a better test of the fuel economy. You know, the last time I tried to see if I could drive in a way as to achieve better milage I ended up blowing the test by "having fun"! I"m always amazed at the performance of this truck and how quickly it can "get up and go"!

 

That sound's familiar but I'm doing my best. Right now I'm at 386 km and half a tank left. But my wife and I were playing around with the programmer doing a bunch of runs
at WOT so I guess that screwed up my mileage for this tank, but I am trying LOL.

 

Keep us posted with your mpg on your diesel turbo. I always heard they get good mileage too, and I am having a hard time pinning down whether I want a 7.3 or a 6 liter!

 

I'll do that. Its a question about disipline though. Every time I try and do a reasonable test with "reasonable" driving I find myself shooting down the freeway at 140! I will keep trying though. As to your thoughts of 7.3 or 6.0. My neighbour has a 90 something F-250 with a 7.3 and he's told me (based on his friends who have both) the stock 6.0 is "way better" than stock 7.3. He was talking mainly about hp and performance over fuel economy though. My own experience has been only with my 2004 F-350 with 6.0 but what an experience! I've been very impressed with this truck so far.

 

Yeah the stock 6 liter has alot more jam to it for sure. For myself I dont need strictly jam though, and Id like to get decent, for a diesel, fuel mileage too!
