Smile O2 sensors... How many?

Hi all,
I have a 2001 Ford Escape with the 3.o V6.
My for some reason the other day my escape blew a hole in the side of my EGR valve, somthing I have never seen done before. Took it to my mechanic and he found that my convertor was clogged and the insides melted. I ordered a new convertor and egr valve for him to replace.
he also suggested that I replace my o2 sensors. My question is how many are there and does anyone have part number form any place for these?
From what I read and seen there are 4 total but not sure when it comes to ordering.
Also where would I find and EGR tube? I read that that should be replaced when repalceing the EGR valve.

Any help would be great.

I have found this forum helpful in the past with a couple of other problems I have had with my escape.

The egr tube is the pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold up to the egr valve. mine did the exact same thing btw. i did not replace the egr tube even though ford recomends it. It has pipe style threads on it that are quite tricky. but if your careful. or in this case. your macanic is careful. you will have no problems. You should look into replasing the Egr Position sensor. IMO. mine got blown away when my cad converter finally plugged.

2002 Blown Out EGR vales

I have the same problem with EGR valves blowing out the side (4 times in less than a month). I temporarily blocked the hole with putty which blew up the intake manifold that afternoon. Dealership repaired that.

Two weeks later another EGR blew out. The dealership said "all of the catalytic converters are clogged" and are 7,000 miles past the warranty. They printed out a diagram of the exhaust system and also demonstrated how they test the exhaust backpressure. It seems the exhaust manifolds are also converters for a total of three catalytic converters and 4 H2O sensors......and each one is expensive. Total repair cost would be about $3,500 to replace the converters!

It would be a pain to swap out the manifolds myself and expensive to replace everything. Has anyone looked at the manifolds or know if they could be clogged? I temporarily punched out the rear converter to get the thing driveable, but I do not trust it.

The part numbers for the O2 sensors on my diagram are 9f472a, 9f472b, 9g444a, 9g444b.
