Red face Retro Fit 2008 Sd Tailgate?

I just saw that new 2008 tailgate..wow the step is rock-n.
I need to replace mine since i jammed an extention ladder through the bottom of it. I gave my local Ford dealer a call to get the skinny on it. The good news is that they are pretty positive it will fit my 99. The bad news is the price including paint will be around 2200.00. Can you Freaking believe that? It does'nt include badges or color either. So I priced an OE tailgate for my 99. It is 455.00 but that is only the shell. You still need to swap your own internal parts and badges plus get it painted. MAN. I need a Sugga Momma.
What do you Guy's think?

You can almost buy a motor for that price, that is just rediculous. Look in junk yards, etc you should be able to find one way cheaper then $500, and somtimes get lucky it being the same color, I will keep my eyes open

I am in no hurry to get a new gate. I simply thought The new Gate with the step in it was sweeeeeet.

Try getting the OE, and have it modified by a good body worker. Dealer prices aren't cheap, and they don't always do the best work for the price.
