Another fatality cause by poor quality. They are definately the worst of the not so big 3.

 

Geez...having thier scary-***, German CEO doing their commercials certainly didn't help, either!

Is there a link somehwere proving the poor quality issues with Dodge/Chrysler? I always hear about Dodge's poor quality but having owned 4 different ones over the year I never experienced it. They were always fine products to me.

 

This is all because of the Germans cutting corners and cheapening the Chrysler brand products to save money for themselves. Chrylser makes more money than Mercedes does, so Mercedes sucks all the money out of Chrysler to put into their own overpriced, overrated vehicles. Come to think of it, Freightliner Trucks is hurting right now too. Dr. Z must be juuust about done sucking them dry before selling them off as well!! Man I wish Chrysler were still/could be independent again. The sad part is that back in 1998, Chrysler was doing just fine. No real issues to speak of. I guess greed wins yet again. Thank you Dr. Z and Tom LaSorda for ruining an American icon in the automobile industry !!!

 

Oh and i just saw on the news the total jobs dropped by the "big 3" the total job loss of FORD,GM, and DCX totals a STAGGERING 104,000+ jobs That really pisses me off

 

And they are only the directly related jobs too...

Excpet Chrysler quality isn't as bad as some here are making it out to be. It's quite good actually. The German influence on Chrysler has been the best thing from this merger.

 

I have owned 3 chrysler products in the past (an 85,86,and 91) and they were all excellent. Here I am reading how chrysler's quality is junk, when my superduty sits in the shop awaiting 4 new ball joints with only 19000 miles on the odometer.

 

Musclecar fan- That's a real hemi there, right? Don't recall Chrysler needed any "quality" help from the Germans to develop that engine!

That's a 1960's 426 Hemi. Probably the best piece of hardware to come out of Detroit in it's day.

Chrysler didn't need help back then. But times are different now. There's a lot more competition and Japanies brands are hurting the "Big 3".

Say it was Ford that Damiler merged with in 1998. I'd bet they would be in better shape right now.

Successes like the LX cars (300, Magnum, Charger), technology like Multi Displacement System (MDS), the new Hemi engines, and extras like the SRT lineup are all ossible because the companies worked together and shared technology.

Overall I think the merger did more good than harm. I hope this end up being just a rumor and nothing serious.

 

And my 2000 F150 5.4 with 84K is in the shop now for head gaskets and the total bill is up to $2400. All because of a Ford flaw with an intake manifold gasket that ended up taking out a bunch of stuff.

Oh and after it gets out it needs new ball joints and door lock actuators.

So I say that Ford quality is at least no better than chrysler.

Well you can get a hit and miss with any-brand although Chrysler seems to have only gave me and my family the misses. . my parents owned three rams (94-01) and some kind of chrysler (concorde i think) and ALL suffred some sort of major repar and yes they were driving the right..but the irony is that my old 93' beat up Ram bought used back in 05 was the ONLY one to make it pass 75,000 miles ..Sad to say but Chrysler and Dodge are no longer welcome in my driveway PERIOD .. (Maybe Jeep and thats a BIG MAYBE )

but anyway Mike why don't u just buy another truck ..All I have heard from youis you Biatching about that truck ever since i became a member and quite frankly you are starting to sound like my girlfriend on PMS not trying to offend you but One would think you would have gotten rid of it by now .. and dont try to use an excuse.. Trucks are so cheap to buy now.. you practically have people Begging you to take them..Personally I wouldn't bother putting headgaskets and ball joints on... i would be trading it in in a heartbeat.. Especially If all I did was gripe about the truck..

 

Back in the 80s, I had several GM company cars and they kept breaking down on me and I switched to Chrysler products (Ford choices was little LTD with inline 6) and was never left stranged again. Company went to a Ford only fleet in the late 90s(Taurus, Sable, etc) and I had to get those ugly things(but I didn't get stranded). I found the MOPARS to be dependable but with a low resale value. The Taurus had almost no resale value at 75,000 miles.

 

The current "Hemi" is not a true Hemi, but is considered a "semi" Hemi by all except those that own them.

Dr. Z has had Chrysler on the market for over a year. Up until this latest story, the only taker was rumored to be Chery Automotive Group, China's largest automaker. I wonder if GM is buying Chrysler to keep it from being bought by the Chinese?


The Chinese want to sell vehicles here, but have no dealer network. Buying Chrysler would give them 1000's of sales outlets in the US and Canada.
