Cougar Ramchero?

Cougar Ramchero?
I have a project I was thinking about trying. There is a good 78 2-dr Cougar (cheap) nearby, also a good base-type '78 Ranchero. I think the front clip from the Cougar would bolt-on swap on to the Ranchero, it looks like the same lines and would make a neat custom. The Ranchero has rusty doors, am I correct in thinking the doors, except for the glass, will be a direct swap also?? Does anyone know if the stock Ranchero wiring harness has unused plugs in it where the power window wiring from the Cougar doors would fit?? Any thoughts or hints on this project would be appreciated!

You are correct about the front clip from the Cougar fitting the Ranchero, doors too using the Ranchero glass, not sure about wires for the power windows though.
I once changed a set of non power doors over to power it CAN be done, but what a pain.
If you are trying to put power doors off the Cougar onto the non power Ranchero that should work, you just may find wires for them to plug into, but if not I think you could run a couple of hot lines to the doors via the factory routeing from the Cougars wireing.
This sounds like a neat custom idea using factory stuff, I say go for it & then post some pictures!!!!!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Jul-02 AT 06:25 PM (EST)]i think the last year for the torino and the torino-ranchero was '76. the '77-'79 are LTD-based. not widely considered to be one of the better looking ranchero styles...
your ran-cougar idea seems like it should be an easy swap... all bolt-on, no fabrication. of course IMHO, a thunder-chero (ranch-bird?) would look a lot cooler!
