Hey... First off, I'm new to the forum.. Not a Ford owner yet, but in the next month or so I will be getting a 2005 F-150 FX4.. I hope it's the right one for me.
Anywho, just curious what you guys think about the new Toyota Tundra that will be coming out soon. From the specs, it looks pretty big and capable.

I like it. and will do a test driver next time I'm in the market for a new truck.
I have always had fords and for the most part had good luck. But people do themselfs a disservice if they dont way all options when shopping for a new vehicle.
in this day and age it is tough to be brand loyal.

 

You might want to try a Toyota Forum. I think you would get a bit more feedback and some honest feedback from that source.

You found the right spot to get alot of great info about the F150.

 

I agree it looks capable, but so do the dodge, nissan, and chevy alternatives to our trucks. That being said, I think they tried too hard with the styling, trying to meld the Ram and F150 front ends together, it looks front heavy and awkward. Admittedly, I'm not that big of a Toyota fan, but it would be at least worth a look if you're in teh market. It's the only way to find out what you like or don't like about it.

 

I like it, but I would never buy Toyota.

 

Yes, I also hang out at toyotanation.com and they have a Tundra forum. One thing Toyota is doing right with the new Tundra, unlike Ford and GM, is that there is no "Heritage" or "Classic". Base model regular cab V-6 versions of the new truck are being produced right now, not just the high profit, leather upholstered crew cabs.

Any photshop gurus? I think if you color key that HUGE chrome band and toss the Ford Fusion grill, the Toy would be a decent lookin' truck.

 

I think it will be a great truck and we will benifit from the new competition in the market. New products with good ideas can only improve the offerings from Ford. I was impressed that the new Tundra Fram uses the same design as the new Sueprduty frame- box section front and C section rear. This truck with a small diesel would be a nice truck to own. It will be interesting to see how and when Toyota moves up the GVW ladder.

And... did I forget to mention that the new toyota is built in the US with a domestic parts content over 75%- that's higher than my Superduty!

So, which is more "American" to own? A Toyota built in Texas or a Daimler/Dodge built in Mexico?

Easy IHbase. Easy...and last I checked this is a Ford message board, so you have the wrong border. Need to compare US built Toyota to Canadian built Fords.

But I do agree about the competition. I read in Autoweek today that Ford has confirmed a 6 speed auto tranny for the next gen F-150 and Escape, due out late next year. About time.

 

I for one will be happy when this Tundra shows up in showrooms. From all the threads I've read on this thing in 4 different forums, it's the best thing since sliced bread.

DOHC: If ever a grille was an afterthought, the one on the 07 Tundra takes the cake. For us Ford fans, it's better than sliced bread, because many ppl have been completely turned off by the fugly thing.

 

That may be true, but I HONESTLY do not think it is any less or more hideous then that droopy eyed Super Duty snout.

The F-150 and GMC are my subjective picks as far as looks...........and only because the GMC looks a lot like the OLD Super Duty to me.

As for the Tundra - an impressive piece of kit, I have no doubt it would be the best 1/2ton truck available from a seat of the pants driving experience.
From an ownership perspective however - I would take an F-150 EVERY day.

I think the new Tundra is going to take away a lot of sales from every other truck producer out there this year. That is a really nice truck they put out, I don't think I'd buy one but I really like it. It looks like a rock solid truck that's going to easily give you 250,000+ miles.
