Hi everybody, my names taylor, im 14 and live in Greenbrier, Arkansas, i own a 1980 F-150 Custom, my neighbors got me into the ford thing, its contagious, hes got a 1978 F-250, a 1979 F-150, and an 1980 Ford van. I'll see if maybe i can get up there, i also have a lot of questions. My truck has 32 inch Buckshot Mudders, no lift, 4 speed w/ granny, warn hubs, and thats about all, for now!!! I put a Sunpro tach on it a month ago, and know i got matching 3 gauge set, oil pressure, Volt, and water temperature. Im wondering where all those connect to. the instructions dont say anything, and i thought i would come to my fellow arkansans first, its a 351M 400, where would you plug the pressure gauge in at, im mounting the 3 gauge set where the truck says CUSTOM, right above the radio. Will the wiring fit for it. I thank you in advance for all your inputs.

zpmps2 Welcome we are glad that you found us. As far as your question about your gauges are they mechanical feed or electrical ? My dad has 2 351ms at the shop and I can help you figure it out .If you don't have one you really should get yourself a service manual of some kind I have found Hanyes manuals to be pretty good and inexpensive. I rebuilt a 1980 Bronco from the ground up about 5 years ago I'll see if I can find a picture of it. I built a 74 302 to about 300 hp with a lota torque a t-18 granny low 4 speed a 9inch with a detroit locker 3:50 gears. Painted it hotrod black with 33 12.50 15 BFGs and had a blast with it.

Bill Henry what are we working on and exactly what is it doing. A multitude of things can make headlights go out . Give us a little more info and we will see if we can help you out if not a moderator can move your thread where you can get some answers.

DAVE i am working on a 96 lincoln while driving down the road headlights go out for two to five mintues then come back on

 

Bill if it keeps doing that off and on I would first check for a tired circuit breaker or some reason why it would trip . Have you done anything to the headlights recently , new bulbs, wiring ? Does this happen with the switch in both the auto and manual positions ?

The oil pressure sending unit on the 351M/400 is on the top of the block at the very back, right in the middle. You can either remove the stock sending unit and install yours in that spot, or you can build a brass "T" fitting and run both.

If you look at the top of the water pump, just below (to the passenger side) the outlet hose to the heater core is the port the water sending unit goes.

alright, ill hook it up tomorrow, if i can, why would you have to drain the oil if the sending unit is ontop of the engine. were does the volt meter go on the truck, and is the 1st annual in 06 that has already passed or 07 which is coming up

You don't have to drain the oil......

The voltmeter you can hook to any circuit that is hot with the key on. the other wire goes to ground.

We've actually had a lot of get togethers, the one coming up marks the first anniversary of the chapter being a chapter.

 

have you thought about any State parks, like woolly hollow, that would be easy for me, being that i dont have a license. For the get togethers and such, not the 1st annual meet. Does anybody in this chapter drive RC Rockcrawlers or anything RC, that is used on the ground. Rockcrawlers are great at woolly hollow, only scale ones, not big ones. I've crawled there a couple of times when my brother used to work there. Great Fun..... Im in the process of taking the Valve covers and the intake manifold off and painting theme, after the cold spell, painting the valve colors old ford, screws on the valve covers silver and the intake silver with blue screws, so it looks like i have a brand new engine. People around here think if you have an edelbrock air filter, youve got a thousand dollar motor, so i wonder what a little paint will do.... So Im gonna hook all the stuff up after the cold spell, muck, and ice is all done, nothing like needing a 4 wheel drive. And i will ask anymore questions when i think of them, if thats alright. Just thought i could say that i got help from the Arkansas chapter, instead of everybody...

We had meets at 2 different city parks and a national park but never at a state park. We had our Christmas GTG at Dave's house There was a lot of us there for that, including Joe. Dave and Scott and I have met at Sonny's for more than one project (three engines pulled and two back in) and at my house once for to help me put an injector in one of my trucks.
