Has anyone seen one of these around ? I have one that my grandfather gave me and is in serious need of restoration. Going to try and get the a flat 6 running then go from there. Does anyone know where I can find another one of these for parts ? How about where to find the MA BELL paint scheme ? Or better yet maybe another truck for parts ?

I have only seen one truck like that before, a few years ago and it was in a junkyard in Woodbury, Conn. Someone painted it yellow, but it still had the distintive utility box and ladder rack. I don't know if it is still there, but it was complete as far as the body goes. The name of the yard is Woodbury auto parts. I remember it sat on the right under some pine trees(ugh) near the office. You might try the internet yellow pages for a number if you're interested. I have some mechanical parts here if you're interested. I am restoring a 1950 F-1, but it's a pickup. If you want to converse, my e-mail is CLUSSY38(No Email Addresses In Posts!). Thanks!

I just picked-up a 1948 F-1 Telephone Truck.
Flat head 6 w/4 on the floor. Stone stock except for 12volt conversion & old ford auto radio. I'm in the telecommunications field & have been looking for such truck for years. Have not yet had it delivered. ETA: 01-29-01. Would like contact with others of this interest.

I saw a 56 utility truck that was hotrodded at "Back to the 50's" in Minnesota a couple years ago that was pretty cool just by the fact that you don't see them. It would be quite rare restored or rodded and would always cause a stir at most shows. I suggest you go for it!

In the book, "Ford Pickup, Color History" (by Tom Brownell) on page 69 is 1955 F-100 Ohio Bell Phone Company Service Truck. The story says the owner is Bill Bennett. It would be worth it to buy the book. There are 2 pictures of the phone truck and a short story. Lots of other info about '48-52 trucks and '53-56 trucks, also.

I do have a 1949 F1 imported from Texas. It started in 1949 as a truck of Texas Bell but was sold to a painter several years later. I still look forward to receiving pictures of how I did looked like originally. Can you please mail me some pictures?

I forget who originally photo chopped this picture, but I saved it and can now share it, I think that one of these would be a real keep sake if your lucky enough to find one. I don't suppose it would be to hard to recreate one just from a picture and alot of carefull measuring. It just came to me ,I think, it was bobj49f2 that posted that pic. He'll correct me if I'm wrong.
